The pavements of London are a rich source of graffiti. Some people choose to mark their existence by writing names and initials in wet concrete. They are surprisingly specific in their use of punctuation and idiosyncratic spelling. These can be funny, touching and very inspirational.
Some of my work has been inspired by a series of photographs of pavement graffiti.
I like the random words and names, misspellings and punctuation so I reproduce those accurately. Then I use the rest of the image as a starting point to use paint and colour in a freer way.
